West of Okarche Oklahoma stood a little rock school house on a section corner. I photographed the school numerous times, never getting the view or the background I wanted.
Imagine my surprise when it burned, probably from a lightening strike. Nothing left but the rock walls, which soon collapsed. Another piece of history slides into the dirt. But the gate into the schoolyard still stands. Imagine the hundreds of children walking 3+ miles to school and passing inside, stopping at the pump for a drink before their daily lesson.
